More Animation + Editing

Image
I'm still animating, but I've started putting together the footage in Premier Pro. It's coming together, but something I've noticed is that the software glitches quite a bit, so I've had to save and restart my computer multiple times. It appears that one project can only contain so much data. This means that I'll have to split the music video into 2 projects and splice them together for the final edit. I've had difficulty adding the audio for the music video as well (still torn between the songs), so I'll most likely do the finishing touches on an app called Capcut (Which means doing that on my phone and downloading the final product onto my computer.). Below are some screenshots of my work in Premiere Pro.

Animation

To animate the video, I'm using a free software called FireAlpaca. After drawing the frames, I save the clips as .mdp (FireAlpaca documents). After that, I can export them as animated GIFs and save them to my computer. Once I have all the GIFs I need, I'll compile them in sequence using Premier Pro. Below are some screenshots of the software and my progress. I've also been mapping my progress on my Instagram story through short video clips, which I will be attaching in a later blog post. The videos show my work at different stages of completion.

Storyboard Part 3

At this point, I'm not sure of how to end the video. I had the idea of them meeting up to spray paint a building, but that might take too much time to animate. If I do decide to make that the ending, it would have to be in a static, comic-style format. I've already started animating the first part of the storyboard (page 1), and I've realised I won't be able to be as detailed as I would have liked, so I'm drawing inspiration from the Studio Ghibli movie "My Neighbours the Yamadas", which uses little detail, but still manages to get the story across. The video will have minimal use of colour (only for props and some backgrounds where necessary), and the animation will have a distinct sketchbook-ish vibe to it. I went for 8 frames per second, which delivers movement in a way that's recognisable, but still delivers the janky feel of a flip-book.
