Layout Ideas

Image
As this is an art-based magazine, the layout will have to be light on text so that the readers' focus is on the images. (I've decided to make it focus on other art forms, so photography, writing, music as well. However, the name of the magazine will still be The Starving Artist .) Below are some formatting examples that I think would work for the cover and double-page spread. I'll try to recreate them on Canva (because my current PC might actually explode if I try Photoshop) over the weekend when I have the photoshoot. I like the cover design for this one ( Portfolio ), it goes around both sides. However, I'm not a fan of minimalism.

Ideas for second draft

Image
After making the first magazine draft, one thing I really liked was  the fusion between my art and the photos used for reference. Since original illustrations don't really count as photos, I'll be experimenting with more artsy photography. This would expand the audience demographic as well, making it an artistic magazine that covers more mediums than just drawing and painting. I'll have time for photoshoots after prom weekend, but here are some images that I'll be taking inspiration from. Lots of halo themes, and I think it would be fun to try and recreate that effect, both with painting and with photography. The content of this issue could be photography tips, or the meaning behind the images, explained by the person who took them. I'll most likely need to buy a ring light, and make a DIY photo studio, so I'll document that process when I have the necessary materials.
